About Me
How do you define beauty?
Is it something that you can only see? Or maybe, just maybe…it’s something that you feel.
Being outdoors, alone with nature wearing nothing but a smile and a loincloth is not only a typical Saturday night for me, but my preferred way to find and feel the beauty of nature in this wonderful country of ours(okay, maybe not a loincloth, but my Levi® jeans and a Green Bay Packers t-shirt are a very close substitute). Birds, trees and sunsets not only stimulate my senses, but touch my soul in a way that I never would have thought. Sure, nature’s not something that everyone might want to capture as a body of work, but it is something that everyone wants to admire and take in, even if it’s only for a miniscule moment during our busy lives. And that’s what I am after: That moment, that feeling and that beauty.
So many times in the rushed and hectic world of ours, we become immune to the little things that are beautiful, eye catching and amazing that unfold around us everyday. A bird in flight, an amazing cloud formation…these are just but a few of natures gifts that often go unnoticed since we all seem more concerned with the speed of our phones and the quality of our music or digital display (and yes, I am also guilty of falling to these small pleasures). How many of us still see the everyday beauty that surrounds us?
My goal as a photographer is not only to take pictures of “things”, but to capture nature’s beauty in its element, as I see it developing naturally. From spiders webbing a nest to birds soaring the sky, none of my shots are still, none of my shots are prepared nor scheduled. One part patience, one part luck…mostly a recipe for disaster one might think, but for me, it’s the way I like to watch life unfold in natures element.
So, in a nutshell. In the name of hobby and art and beauty, I head out into the wild to watch and wait. And sometimes, I am able to capture. Sometimes big, sometimes small…but all amazing in my eye, and hopefully to yours as well.
My name is Chris. Eye see beauty. Eye see life. Eye see nature.
